Duke of Edinburgh Awards and Sports Success

Duke of Edinburgh
Oxford Sixth Form College students achieve Duke of Edinburgh Award, compete in Volleyball match and achieve a PB in the Eynsham 10km!
At Oxford Sixth Form College our students have a vast range of sports activities to get involved with. Whether it be yoga, tennis, football or athletics, the sporting opportunities for our students are excellent.

Today we are highlighting some of our recent sporting successes beginning with our excellent volleyball team who, led by Gary, recently played their first competitive match. The team consists of Tariel, Amanda, Hung, Khondamir and Virakyuth. The team played incredibly well, put in an excellent effort and are looking forward to more matches this term!

Hung, Oxford Sixth Form College’s first-ever triathlete, has continued to add to his impressive list of achievements by completing (and achieving a personal best) in the 10km. The road race took place in Eynsham a couple of weeks ago and Hung placed in the top 50% of his category with a time of 51:50.9.

The Duke of Edinburgh Award scheme is another excellent extra-curricular activity to be involved in at Oxford Sixth Form College with students offered the chance to earn their Bronze, Silver, and Gold certificates. Recently Hung and Thien completed their Bronze Duke of Edinburgh Award. The pair hiked from Badbury Clump to Bampton and back again having camped overnight too. They completed around 40km of walking over the two-day period while cooking, camping and navigating the Oxfordshire countryside.
