Recording through drawing

AS Art & Design students went on a walking tour of Oxford last week to explore new ways of recording ideas through drawing whilst being outside on location. Students ventured on a walk from the college, along King Edward Street and High street, and into the Covered Market.  Through mark-making, use of colour and continuous line, they created a narrative of their journey with a variety of spontaneous and more thoughtful approaches to observation.

The drawings now remain as a portal back to their experience from which to develop ideas.  Students were free to draw what they noticed independently selecting architecture, movement, people and space as some of the features of their drawings. All of the students were really engaged in this task, and it was a productive excursion for this cohort.
