Who is the course designed for?
For students who have completed year 10, but wish to benefit from a greater level of support in smaller, examination-oriented classes, and from the high levels of personal attention and care for which Oxford Sixth Form College is renowned, a One Year GCSE programme is offered, enabling students to complete up to seven GCSE awards. The course would also be suitable for students who are seeking to retake having completed Year 11
The core curriculum comprises Mathematics, English Language, English Literature and Double Award Science. Students may also choose a further two optional subjects from:
- Art & Design
- Further Mathematics
- Languages (French, Spanish, Italian, German and Latin)
- Science (Triple Award)
- Or BTEC Level 2 Business (equivalent to 2 GCSEs)
Within a stimulating weekly programme of PSHE, students also develop and extend their creative skills through our Extra Curricular Programme with trips, sport and cultural events. There is also a vibrant social programme making extensive use of the many facilities within the city and university of Oxford.
Oxford Sixth Form College can provide bespoke courses of individual tuition in such instances in up to seven subjects.
How students benefit from the course
You will study using a range of techniques including group work, independent study, research, practical activities and homework. You will develop skills needed to succeed at the GCSE examinations.

In addition, the PSHE programme will facilitate the students developing creative skills. They will received a high level of pastoral support and structure which will help them succeed. GCSEs, are required both for moving onto the next level and some universities require mathematics and English GCSEs for entry into their courses. are required
