# IGCSE MATHEMATICS

Mathematics is taught with the aim to provide a broad, coherent, satisfying and worthwhile course of study. We strive to encourage students to develop confidence in, and a positive attitude towards mathematics and to recognise the significance of mathematics in their own lives and to society. ### WHAT IS MATHEMATICS?

The One Year IGCSE content includes number, algebra, geometry, probability, statistics, calculus (only differentiation and its application to motion of a particle).  The One Year IGCSE course is suitable for students who move from Year 10 at U.K. schools to study with us and for international students requiring a one year course before progressing to A-Level or BTEC.

### WHAT WILL I GAIN FROM STUDYING THE SUBJECT?

The IGCSE specification in mathematics enables students to:

• Develop fluent knowledge, skills and understanding of mathematical methods and concepts
• Acquire, select and apply mathematical techniques to solve problems
• Reason mathematically, make deductions and inferences and draw conclusions
• Comprehend, interpret and communicate mathematical information in a variety of forms appropriate to the information and context.
• Recall, select and apply mathematical formulas

and provides a strong mathematical foundation for A-Level and beyond.
