Our one-year pre-A-level programme is purposely designed for our international students. In small groups, learners receive expert English language support and study a range of subjects. This builds their knowledge, understanding, and linguistic confidence, and sets them up for success on either our A-level or BTEC Business programmes.
Our Pre-A-level course is designed for international students aged between 15 and 17.
The one-year programme– bespoke to Oxford Sixth Form College – develops our learners’ English language skills, while also providing the academic foundations needed to progress on to our A-level or BTEC Business pathways.
Lessons are taught in tutorial-style groups, ensuring each student receives expert individual support and guidance. Alongside a targeted English for Academic Purposes (EAP) course, you’ll immerse yourself in Maths, Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Art and Design, Business, PSHE, and PE. These subjects are taught entirely in English.
You’ll be supported every step of the way by our EAP experts, subject teachers, and your dedicated Senior Tutor. At the end of the programme, you’ll sit an EAP exam.
Throughout the course, our students use techniques and approaches they’ll later experience either at A-level or BTEC. These include group work, independent study, practical activities, in-depth research, and homework. Studying in this way will help you develop the skills you need to thrive here, at university, and beyond – including creative thinking, problem solving, and the ability to communicate with confidence.
